Sponsored Walk

Sponsored walk – Roker to Seaburn

We did a sponsored walk from Roker to Seaburn to raise funds for Gateway North East! This will go towards the work that we do all year round like Holiday Schemes and Sports Events.

We are in the process of collecting money from the sponsors. If anyone would like to add to this and donate then please get in touch with us over the phone on 0191 526 3112.

Houghton Feast Parade

When… Sat 6th October 2018

We had a fab time in the parade!

We even had a few children dressed up as superheroes as we participated in the parade.

On the 6th of July a number of our young people, staff and volunteers when to Portland Academy with a Tom-bola stall to raise money for our young people and Portland Academy!

They had a great day being involved with the festival and raised a total of £65! With 10% of our money raised going straight to Portland, to support them in the amazing work they do as a school and working with the community.

Monday 7th May – Family Fundraiser

This was a great day. We got the sun as hoped and many people came down for the tom bola and to see Trip Hazard preform. The kids had an amazing time on the bouncy castle and the adults enjoyed a few drinks and good conversation!

Overall a thoroughly enjoyed day by everyone!

Bank Holiday Family Fun Day

Everyone had a fantastic day at The Burn pub in Houghton Le Spring! Loads of people came down to join in with the activities and support out charity. The weather was perfect with the sun shining it allowed everyone to sit out and soak up some rays!

We want give a big thank you to all who came down and joined us for the day, to the band ‘Trip Hazard’ who provided some brilliant entertainment. Also a massive thank you to Donna Stewart who made it all possible!

Here are some photos from the day…

Lads Vs Dads Charity Football Match

We had a great time on the day of Charity match! We had both teams battling it out with the game finishing 9-2 to the lads team. Sadly for the dads it was the stamina that let them down.

We had a lot of support from families and friends cheering from the side lines, and a visit from the Sunderland Echo.

Both teams got their photos taken before the game and were looking fab in their full kits, gratefully lent from local football teams.

Here are some photos from the day…

Thursday 8th March 2018:

Our Stepping Out group are in Portland School today giving a talk to advertise who we are, what we do and especially what we have coming in the future! We are trying to expand our group and get more people involved.

Here is a message from Rachael Rich about how the day has gone and some info on what they will be doing in the future…

‘Over the past 2 days the Stepping Out Group have been promoting our services to post 16 students

at Portland Academy. We have lots of young people interested in joining the group and have found out how other organisations can
support everyone at Gateway too.

We will be continuing to tell people all about us at Sunderland College, Bede Campus on March 29th (times to be confirmed.) So if you or you know any 16 to 25’s with a disability or barrier to learning who need our support please come along!’

Thank you again to the Team,
Rachael Rich
